Diplomatic districts, established residential suburbs and exclusive coastal developments attract wealthy residents in countries across the continent.

Methodology
The 54 entries cover Africa's sovereign countries and identify recognised premium residential areas using their established property-market reputation, location and housing characteristics. They are not ranked by verified 2026 prices. A definitive most-expensive designation would require comparable recent sales or price-per-square-metre evidence within every national market, which is not publicly available.
The distinction matters: an expensive diplomatic district, a luxury waterfront estate and a prime commercial area can represent different property markets even within the same city.
