Kenya has recorded several multimillion-shilling jackpot payouts over the past decade, with some individual prizes exceeding KSh 200 million. The recipients have included people from different backgrounds, many of whom were largely unknown to the public before their names appeared in national headlines.

Among the most widely reported recipients are Boniface Kamau, Gordon Ogada, Samuel Abisai and Cosmas Korir. Their publicly announced awards ranged from KSh 208 million to more than KSh 424 million.

The following fact-sheet documents named recipients, reported prize amounts and the dates associated with their awards. It distinguishes individual payouts from shared prizes and does not assume that every recipient received the full advertised amount personally.

1. Boniface “Bonnie” Kamau — KSh 424,660,618

August 2025

Boniface Kamau became Kenya's biggest publicly reported football-jackpot winner in August 2025, receiving an award of KSh 424.66 million.

Kamau was an office clerk before the announcement. His win followed the correct prediction of 17 football match results played over August 2–3, 2025.

He was publicly unveiled at the JW Marriott Hotel in Nairobi on August 13. His prize surpassed Gordon Ogada's previous record of KSh 230.74 million, which had stood since February 2018.

The award was also the first grand-prize payout in that jackpot series in nearly seven years.

2. Gordon Ogada — KSh 230,742,881

February 2018

Gordon Ogada received KSh 230.74 million in February 2018, becoming Kenya's largest publicly reported football-jackpot winner at the time.

His award exceeded the KSh 221.3 million previously received by Samuel Abisai in April 2017.

Ogada held the record for more than seven years until Boniface Kamau's August 2025 win. Both men were later mentioned together in media coverage of Kenya's biggest jackpot payouts.

3. Samuel Abisai — KSh 221,301,602

April 2017

Samuel Abisai became a nationally recognised figure in April 2017 after receiving KSh 221.3 million.

His award was the first grand-prize payout in the football-jackpot series and established a record that was surpassed by Gordon Ogada the following year.

Abisai's name has remained prominent in historical accounts of Kenya's biggest jackpot recipients. His award was an individual prize, unlike the subsequent May 2017 jackpot, which was divided among three people.

4. Cosmas Korir — KSh 208,733,619

September 2018

Cosmas Korir was announced as the recipient of a KSh 208.73 million jackpot in September 2018.

His award came seven months after Gordon Ogada's record payout. Korir became the final grand-prize recipient in that series before Boniface Kamau's win in August 2025.

The seven-year gap between those two awards was highlighted when the 2025 result was announced.

5. Florence Machogu — KSh 37,058,791

May 2017

Florence Machogu was a 60-year-old primary school teacher in Molo when she received KSh 37.06 million in May 2017.

A mother of six, Machogu was one of three people who shared a KSh 111.18 million jackpot after correctly predicting 17 football results.

Her background was reported by The Standard on May 31, 2017. The newspaper identified her as a teacher and confirmed her individual share of the award.

Machogu's story received attention partly because of her age and her career in education.

6. Geoffrey Keitany — KSh 37,058,791

May 2017

Geoffrey Keitany was a police officer, reportedly aged 30, when he became one of the three recipients of the May 2017 jackpot.

Keitany was identified as a General Service Unit officer based in Baringo County. He shared the KSh 111.18 million prize with Florence Machogu and Daniel Rono.

Each recipient was allocated KSh 37,058,791. Keitany's occupation and participation were documented in contemporary reporting.

7. Daniel Rono — KSh 37,058,791

May 2017

Daniel Rono was the third recipient of the May 2017 shared jackpot.

Together with Geoffrey Keitany and Florence Machogu, he received an equal portion of the KSh 111,176,374 award.

The three recipients were publicly identified in May 2017. Their individual allocations were approximately KSh 37.06 million each.

Although the shared award was smaller than the individual prizes recorded by Samuel Abisai, Gordon Ogada and Cosmas Korir, it remains one of the documented multimillion-shilling payouts in Kenya's jackpot history.
