African forwards have produced some of the biggest scoring numbers in UEFA Champions League history. The list includes players from Egypt, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Senegal, Gabon, Algeria, Guinea and Nigeria.
UEFA's latest figures, updated after the 2025/26 Champions League final, rank Mohamed Salah as Africa's leading scorer with 50 goals. The statistics cover the group stage or league phase through the final and exclude qualifying matches.
1. Mohamed Salah – Egypt
Champions League goals: 50
Mohamed Salah is the first African player to reach 50 goals in the Champions League.
He reached the milestone during Liverpool's 2025/26 campaign, becoming the competition's leading African scorer. UEFA records show that Salah scored for Basel, Chelsea, Roma and Liverpool in the Champions League, although Liverpool accounts for the vast majority of his goals.
His 98 appearances also make him Africa's most experienced player in the competition.
2. Didier Drogba – Ivory Coast
Champions League goals: 44
Didier Drogba scored 44 Champions League goals for Marseille, Chelsea and Galatasaray.
His Chelsea career produced most of his European goals and included the decisive penalty in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
Drogba held the African scoring record for years before Salah moved past his 44-goal total.
3. Samuel Eto'o – Cameroon
Champions League goals: 30
Samuel Eto'o scored 30 goals in the competition.
His Champions League goals came across spells with Real Madrid, Mallorca, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea. His most successful period came at Barcelona, where he won the trophy twice.
Eto'o then won the Champions League with Inter in 2010, becoming one of the few African players to win the competition three times.
4. Sadio Mané – Senegal
Champions League goals: 27
Sadio Mané scored 27 Champions League goals for Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
The Senegalese forward was a central figure in Liverpool's run to the 2019 Champions League title. He also scored in the competition during his time with Bayern Munich.
His 27 goals place him fourth among African scorers in UEFA's latest ranking.
5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Gabon
Champions League goals: 20
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored 20 Champions League goals.
The Gabonese striker has played in the competition for Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Marseille. His Dortmund years produced his highest Champions League output, while he also added goals with Chelsea and Marseille.
UEFA's figures put him level with Algeria's Riyad Mahrez on 20 goals.
6. Riyad Mahrez – Algeria
Champions League goals: 20
Riyad Mahrez has also scored 20 Champions League goals.
The Algerian winger played in the competition for Leicester City and Manchester City. His most significant European achievement came with Manchester City, when the club won the Champions League in 2023 as part of a historic treble.
Mahrez's 20 goals put him level with Aubameyang in UEFA's African scoring table.
7. Serhou Guirassy – Guinea
Champions League goals: 19
Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy has already moved into seventh place among African Champions League scorers.
His 19 goals have come with Rennes and Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund has been particularly important to his Champions League record, with his scoring numbers rising rapidly during his time in Germany.
At 19 goals, he sits just one behind Mahrez and Aubameyang in UEFA's latest figures.
8. Victor Osimhen – Nigeria
Champions League goals: 16
Nigeria's Victor Osimhen has scored 16 Champions League goals.
His goals have come with Lille, Napoli and Galatasaray. His Napoli spell included a Champions League quarter-final appearance during the club's 2022/23 Serie A title-winning season.
Osimhen's total puts him eighth among African scorers in UEFA's current historical ranking.
9. Seydou Doumbia – Ivory Coast
Champions League goals: 15
Ivory Coast's Seydou Doumbia scored 15 Champions League goals during spells with CSKA Moscow, Basel and Sporting CP.
Doumbia became particularly prolific in European competition during his time with CSKA Moscow and Basel.
His 15 Champions League goals keep him among Africa's most productive scorers in the competition's history.
10. Vincent Aboubakar – Cameroon
Champions League goals: 14
Cameroon's Vincent Aboubakar completes the top 10 with 14 Champions League goals.
He scored those goals while representing Porto and Beşiktaş in the competition.
Aboubakar's European career also includes appearances in several other UEFA competitions, but his Champions League record places him among the leading African scorers.
